KANO
Brief:
The museum was opened in 1985 at the ancient palace, Gidan Makama, build
by Sarkin Kano Mohammed Rumfa in late 15th century. The building isa National
Monument. The museum complex comprises a fenced parking space, courtyard,
amphitheatre and open platform for performances. There is a museum Annex
Office at the Federal Secretariat Complex.
The museum supervises other National Monuments in the vicinity; the ancient
city walls and gates in Kano (partly renovated with a grant from the German
Government), as well as the rock paintings and Rock Gong in Jigawa State.
