Brief:
The museum, conceived as one of the four Museums of National Unity in
the country, was opened in 1989 at a temporary location, while the permanent
site is being developed. It displays materials on the excavations and
a reproduction of the 8,000-year old Dufuna canoe from the near-by Yobe
State. It also oversees the National Monument at Dikwa, the famous Dikwa
Fort, which also has a small museum display on the fort’s history
and significance.
