DECLARED MONUMENTS IN NIGERIA
Igbara Oke Petroglyphs:
In 1959 during the levelling of a plot on which a new house was being
built in Igbara Oke a large rock was uncovered and found to bear incised
designs.
Nothing is known of the significance or age of these designs which include
what appear to be a fish as well as a narrow triangle and other patterns.
Igbara Oke is 17 miles from Akure on the road to Ilesha.
The rock is opposite the Christ Apostolic Church School and about 10
